Two-Year Degree ProgramsThe junior college curriculum is designed primarily to prepare students to transfer to four-year colleges and universities as juniors in good standing. More than 95 percent of NMMI graduates go on to a four-year college.
Students earn an Associate in Arts or an Associate in Science degree upon graduation from the junior college. An Associate in Arts degree is designed to provide a solid foundation in the liberal arts for cadets interested in pursuing a degree in Humanities, Business, Social Science, or related fields. The degree requires a minimum of 68 hours (six in English, three in communications, six in the humanities or modern language, six in social science, six in history, eight in laboratory science, 12 in military science, three in mathematics, three in health, remainder in electives). An Associate in Science degree is designed to provide a solid foundation in mathematics and the sciences for cadets interested in pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Sciences, Engineering, Pre-Medical, Pre-Dental, Pre-Veterinarian, or related fields. The degree requires a minimum of 68 hours ((six in English, six in the humanities or language, three in social science, three in history, six in mathematics, 12 in laboratory science, 12 in military science, three in health, remainder in electives). A normal load is 17 hours per semester.
Senior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC)As the largest of the nation’s five military junior colleges, we offer the largest, most successful Army College ROTC 2-Year Early Commissioning Program that enables a graduate of NMMI’s junior college to be commissioned as a second lieutenant in two years. Students who receive a commission have 36 months to complete a baccalaureate degree after which they may serve in the U.S. National Guard or Army Reserve or may choose to apply for active duty.
US Service Academy Preparatory ProgramNMMI boasts the largest, most successful US Service Academy Preparatory Program in the nation! Our one-year program of study is designed to prepare young men and women sponsored by the Association of Graduates of West Point, Naval Academy Foundation, or the Air Force Academy Falcon Foundation, the Coast Guard Academy, and the Merchant Marine Academy to attend and be successful at the Service Academies. A college cadet must earn a minimum of 32 hours (six in English, eight in laboratory science (physical science courses), four in military science, six in mathematics, two in Prep PE, remainder in electives). Non- sponsored cadets may take the preparatory curriculum as “Self Preps” to gain admission to the academies.
