Athletics
Athletics are an important part of our mission to educate the whole person. Our athletic philosophy is to help student athletes develop the character, leadership, and intellectual capabilities that will ensure success in life.
NMMI athletics consists of men’s and women’s teams at the intercollegiate and interscholastic levels in football, baseball, basketball, track, men's soccer, cross country, tennis, swimming, golf and volleyball. Our facilities are some of the finest in the nation, and include weight rooms, an Olympic-size swimming pool, basketball and racquetball courts, and the nation’s only “fitness factory” for comprehensive physical development.
Our interscholastic teams participate at the State level in New Mexico Activities Association and have won many championships. NMMI is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), the Western States Football League and the Western Junior College Conference.

Residential Boarding Environment
All cadets live on campus in the barracks. NMMI is a residential boarding school environment with the two cadet barracks organized by troop. Normally, two cadets of the same status (old, yearling or new cadet) live in each room. Rooms are equipped with telephone, cable TV, and Internet access. Cadet rooms are subject to inspection at all times by the cadet leadership, officers and noncommissioned officers, and by the uniformed members of the Commandant of Cadet’s Staff. The dining hall seats the entire Corps of Cadets for meals. There is a student union complex with a snack bar, barber shop, game room, internet café, bowling alley, reading room, ballroom, and formal parlor
