NMMI grants high school diplomas and Associate in Arts and in Science degrees, and certificates of completion of the one year Service Academy Preparatory Program. Our emphasis on honor, integrity, responsibility, and accountability contribute to our unique educational philosophy.
The Corps of Cadets
The heart of the NMMI Experience is The Corps of Cadets. The Corps is a "leadership laboratory" which sets NMMI apart from other educational institutions, public or private. Every student is part of the Corps of Cadets.
Cadets are encouraged to reach beyond existing, often self-imposed, limits in academic, leadership and physical activities. The focus of the NMMI experience is on each cadet’s success through individual attention and mentoring by their instructors in the classroom, staff outside the classroom, and their leaders in the Corps. Each graduating cadet is well equipped to handle the challenges of college life after NMMI as well as those of their chosen profession.
Cadets live each day within a military framework. They wear cadet uniforms, live in barracks-style dormitories and eat in a dining facility. Punctuality, order, discipline, courtesy, respect for authority, self-reliance, initiative, and strength of character are expected of each cadet.
The Corps is led by the cadets themselves, who provide much of the military training and administer the Cadet Honor Code. More formal and specific training is provided through NMMI’s Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and Junior ROTC detachments and the Service Academy Preparatory program administrators.
Cadet Honor Code
Since unanimous adoption by the Corps of Cadets in 1921, the Cadet Honor Code has been the foundation for life at NMMI. Simply put the Code says: “A cadet will not lie, cheat, or steal, nor tolerate those who do.” The Cadet Honor Board administers the Cadet Honor System.
